I currently work as a children's librarian. I like it - except for the fact that it's constant loud interactions with the public. I'd love to do archival or rare book work instead (plus I love art and history!!!) I can't afford an MLS (I have 10+ years of experience in libraries), and you're right - rare book jobs are so scarce! Here's hoping you can get one so I can live vicariously through you lol
I'm in a similar position - finishing my MLIS in a few days (!!!), contract for my current archives job ends in a few months. Scared but also sort of excited to see what happens! We can do this!!! Good luck with your job search!
